  1. Reckless motorization kills people, cities, and the environment. Here's what happened in the Netherlands:

    -Cities could not cope with traffic
    -Very high number casualties from motor vehicles
    -Economic crisis, fuel prices, energy shortage
    -A political will to adopt a full transport system
